Self-test for the determination of total class E Immunoglobulins (IgE) in whole blood samples

Immunoglobulins E (IgE) are the class of antibodies that are most involved in allergic reactions. In normal conditions, IgE are present in blood in a really low quantity.
However, when they come in contact with the allergens, their concentration increases and they can trigger the cascade of reactions leading to the appearance of the main symptoms of an allergic reaction (such as skin erythema, itchiness, sneezing repeatedly, and, in some cases, anaphylactic shock).
This is why it is important to check if IgE levels are above normal, especially in people with a family history of allergies.

ALLERGY IgE TEST is for all those people who show the symptoms of an allergic reaction: itching and/or skin redness, eyes irritation and repeated sneezing.

Draw a blood sample by using the sterile lancet provided.
Collect the sample indicated with the black line by using the capillary pipette provided.
Deposit the collected specimen into the sample well (S) indicated on the test cassette.
Add 2 drops of the diluent and wait 5 minutes before reading the result.

What happens if the results reading time is not met? The test has been carried out correctly when the instructions for use are followed. It includes the reading time and the interpretation of the results shown at the "RESULTS INTERPRETATION" section of the instructions for use.

How to prove that the test worked correctly? A coloured line will appear at the control region (C) on the test device, showing that the test performed correctly. The absence of the coloured line suggests to repeat the test with a new device and a new sample

How to interpret the test if the control and test lines have different intensities? The colour and intensity of the lines do not affect the interpretation of the result. The test has to be considered positive regardless of the colour intensity of the test line (T).

If the test indicates that the concentration of lgE antibodies in the blood is above average, it is likely that you suffer from an allergy. Different allergic symptoms may suggest various allergies, such as pollen allergy, food allergy or mould allergy.
What steps can help to identify and manage allergies?
-Consider further testing. Specific laboratory testing will specify the allergens that cause allergic symptoms. You may choose between skin tests and further blood screening.
-Avoid triggers. Provided that you know what substance(s) you are allergic to, it is crucial to eliminate or minimise contact with the allergen.
-Consult an allergist. A specialist will inform you about possible treatment options as well as further allergy management guidelines. Consider desensitization.
The therapy involves receiving small doses of the allergen to train the body not to react to its presence. Provided that allergy is well-understood and managed, it does not have to disturb daily functioning.
