Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a collective term that describes any infection involving any part of the urinary tract, namely the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. It is one of the most common infections in local primary care.

The test should be performed in presence of the following symptoms: excessive frequency and/or burning during urination, turbid and/or bad-smelling urine.

URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS TEST is intended for anyone who wants to check the presence of leukocytes, blood, nitrites or proteins in the urine, indicating a possible infection in progress.

Collect the first urine in the morning by using a clean and dry cup.

Take out the test strip from the aluminium pouch.

Deep the test strip into the sample for 1-2 seconds.

Wait 2 minutes before reading the results.

What happens if the results reading time is not met? The test has been carried out correctly when the instructions for use are followed. It includes the reading time and the interpretation of the results shown at the "RESULTS INTERPRETATION" section of the instructions for use.

How to prove that the test worked correctly? A coloured line will appear at the control region (C) on the test device, showing that the test performed correctly. The absence of the coloured line suggests to repeat the test with a new device and a new sample.

If the test detected non physiological levels of leukocytes, blood, nitrites and proteins in your urine, you likely have an ongoing urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs are a fairly common condition, but they should never be disregarded.
What steps are recommended to take?

-Remember about hydration. Drinking great amounts of water helps flush bacteria out of your urinary system.
Avoid liquids that irritate the bladder. Beverages such as alcohol or coffee may worsen the symptoms.
-Urinate frequently. Although urinating may cause pain during a UTI, emptying the bladder regularly prevents the growth of bacteria.
-Consult a specialist. If the symptoms persist, it is necessary to recommend adequate treatment, for example antibiotics.

Research proves that about 10 in 25 women and 3 in 25 men experience a UTI during their lifetime. Therefore, being aware of the infection's signs and treatment is crucial for effective prevention.
